Impressionen rund um die Jahresversammlung 2021 (English version scroll down)

Bereits nach einem halben Jahr schon wieder Berichterstattung und Standortbestimmung durch den Vorstand, doch was können sie berichten, resp. was kann ich rapportieren?
Pandemiebedingt fanden weniger Anlässe statt. Über das Raclette und den Samichlaus habe ich bereits ausführlich berichtet, zudem konnten keine Jasstourniere und nur vier monatliche Treffen durchgeführt werden. Das attraktive Pattaya-Weekend fand leider auch nicht statt.
Rekord bei den Anmeldungen: 100 Personen. Ich bin überzeugt, dass dies sicherlich kein Misstrauensvotum gegenüber dem Vorstand ist, sondern man (und Frau) wollte einfach endlich wieder einmal Freunde und Bekannte sehen und plaudern.
Mit 100 Teilnehmern, davon 85 Stimmberechtigte, füllte sich der Saal.
Zuvor stimmte man sich mit dem von der Schweizer Botschaft offerierten Weiss- und Rotwein auf die Sitzung ein. Nebst den obligaten Chips und Nüssli wurden feine Apéro-Häppchen serviert.
Pünktlich um 19:06 Uhr eröffnete unser Präsident Christian Brunner das Annual General Meeting. Erfreut bemerkte ich den Zuwachs am Vorstandstisch, ein Volltreffer - eine junge Frau im Kreise der ehrwürdigen Herren, mehrheitlich Senioren: Frau Hop Phan Stierli. Sie hat als professionelle Graphic-Designerin u.a. auch das Logo für unser 90 Jahre Jubiläum gestaltet.
Die ersten 8 ordentlichen Traktanden waren zügig erledigt, einstimmig wurden Jahresberichte und Finanzen genehmigt.
Nach 10 Jahren übergibt Thomas Gerber sein Amt als ASO Delegierter an den aktuellen SSB Vizepräsidenten Josef Schnyder. Dieser wird einstimmig gewählt. Er bringt schon 8 Jahre Erfahrung als ASO Delegierte aus seiner Zeit in Moskau mit.
Die Traktanden ASO und Swiss Support Swiss sorgten für Gesprächsstoff; Fragen, Diskussionen, Kritik und Änderungsanregungen führten schlussendlich zu einer Verlängerung des AGM um genau 16 Minuten mehr als die vorgesehene Stunde. Diskret hörte ich wie schon einige Bäuche knurren.
Nebst den üblichen Aktivitäten sind heuer bis jetzt 2 grosse Anlässe zum 90er Jubiläum geplant:
- Ein gediegenes Galadinner (nicht in Jeans, meinte Josef Schnyder) am 21. Mai im Mandarin Oriental, wo vor 90 Jahren die SSB gegründet wurde. Mit diesem Galadinner möchten wir nicht nur auf die alte traditionelle Art feiern, sondern es dient auch einem guten Zweck, indem wir etwas Geld für „Swiss Support Swiss“ sammeln.
- Der absolute Höhepunkt der 90 Jahr Feier soll das „Volksfest“ am 30. Oktober werden. Wir organisieren eine Party für Jung und Alt mit traditioneller Schweizer Küche, Musik, Tanz und Spielen.
- Nach der Aufarbeitung des Archivs der SSB wird nun ein Jubiläumsbuch erstellt. In diesem Werk sind historische Höhepunkte von den Gründungsjahren bis zur Gegenwart mit vielen Geschichten erfasst; Geschichten aus der Vergangenheit und der Erfahrung der Schweizer Landsleute in Thailand. Das Buch wird am 30. Oktober an unserer Jubiläumsfeier präsentiert. Bereits hat sich Eveline Willi, Präsidentin der Swiss Lanna Society aus Chang Mai, mit rund 20 Mitgliedern aus dem hohen Norden zu diesem Anlass angemeldet, bevor diese Gruppe am drauffolgenden Morgen zu einer mehrtägigen Erlebnisreise nach Hua Hin weiterreisen wird.
Anschliessend an die Sitzung genossen wir das grosse Schweizerbuffet - natürlich durfte die Raclette Station nicht fehlen.
Einmal mehr ein ganz grosses Dankeschön an unsere Botschafterin, Frau Helene Budliger Artieda, an unseren Vorstand, an das OK Team und an den Gastgeber Eric Brand, Direktor des Arnoma Grand Bangkok, mit seinem gastfreundlichen Team.

Impressions around the Annual General Meeting 2021
After only half a year, the Executive Board is already reporting and assessing the situation, but what can you report, or rather what can I report?
Due to the pandemic, fewer events took place. I have already reported in detail on the Raclette and the Samichlaus, and there were no card tournaments and only four monthly meetings. Unfortunately, the attractive Pattaya Weekend did not take place either.
Record number of registrations: 100 people. I am convinced that this is certainly not a vote of no confidence in the Board, but men and women simply wanted to finally see friends and acquaintances again and chat with each other.
The hall was filled with 100 participants, 85 of whom were entitled to vote.
Beforehand, the participants got in the mood for the meeting with white and red wine offered by the Swiss Embassy. In addition to the obligatory peanuts and chips, fine aperitif snacks were served.
Our President Christian Brunner opened the Annual General Meeting punctually at 7:06 pm. I was pleased to notice the new addition to the board table, a direct hit - a young woman in the circle of venerable gentlemen, the majority of them seniors: Mrs Hop Phan Stierli. As a professional graphic designer, she also created the logo for our 90th anniversary.
The first 8 ordinary items on the agenda were quickly completed, and the annual reports and the finances were approved mostly unanimously.
After 10 years, Thomas Gerber handed over his office as ASO delegate to the current SSB vice-president Josef Schnyder, who was elected unanimously. He already brings 8 years of experience as ASO delegate from his time in Moscow.
The agenda items ASO and Swiss Support Swiss were the topic of conversation; questions, discussions, criticism and suggestions for changes finally led to an extension of the AGM by exactly 16 minutes more than the scheduled one hour. Discreetly, I could already hear some tummies growling.
Apart from the usual activities, 2 big events are planned for the 90th anniversary this year:
- A dignified gala dinner (not in jeans, said Josef Schnyder) on 21 May at the Mandarin Oriental, where the SSB was founded 90 years ago. With this gala dinner we not only want to celebrate in the old traditional way, but it also serves a fundraising event for "Swiss Support Swiss".
- The absolute highlight of the 90th anniversary celebration will be the "Volksfest" on 30 October. We are organising a party for young and old with traditional Swiss cuisine, music, dancing and games.
- After processing the archives of the SSB, an anniversary book is now being produced.
In this work, historical highlights from the founding years to the present are recorded with many stories; stories from the past and the experience of the Swiss compatriots in Thailand. The book will be presented on 30 October at our anniversary celebration.
Eveline Willi, President of the Swiss Lanna Society from Chang Mai, has already announced her participation for this event with about 20 members from the far north, before this group will travel on to Hua Hin the following morning for an adventure trip lasting several days.
After the meeting we enjoyed the big Swiss buffet - of course the raclette station was not to be missed.
Once again a big thank you to our ambassador, Mrs. Helene Budliger Artieda, to our board, to the OC team and to the host Eric Brand, director of the Arnoma Grand Bangkok, with his hospitable team.
