AGM 2026

Report and photos of the Annual General Meeting 2026 (AGM 2026) which took place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Bangkok.

AGM 2025

For the third consecutive year, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Swiss Society Bangkok (SSB) was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok, still under the direction of SSB member Peter Caprez. A total of 109 members registered for the event.

The AGM session was officially opened by SSB President Christian Brunner following registration and an aperitif, during which wine generously sponsored by the Embassy of Switzerland in Thailand was served.

At the beginning of the meeting, Swiss ambassador Pedro Zwahlen addressed the audience. He emphasized the importance of the association for the Swiss community in Thailand and highlighted the excellent cooperation between the SSB and the Swiss Embassy.

Membership Overview: The SSB continues to maintain a stable membership base consisting of

  • 220 ordinary members

  • 5 honorary members

  • 14 associate members

Among the 239 total members, 140 are single members and 99 are family memberships.

In his Annual Report, Christian Brunner reminded members that 2027 will be an election year, when a new board will be elected for the next three-year term. As it is often challenging to find candidates to replace outgoing board members, he encouraged interested members to come forward already in 2026 in order to gain insight into the teamwork and spirit of the SSB board.

At the conclusion of his report, Christian Brunner announced that he would hand over the role of President to the current Vice-President, Josef Schnyder. Christian Brunner will remain a member of the board until the AGM 2027. In addition, Event Coordinator Sacha Bürgi will assume the role of Vice-President, alongside his existing responsibilities.

Treasurer Michel Henriod presented the association’s financial statement and the budget for 2026, both of which were accepted unanimously by the members present.

Update from the Association for the Swiss Abroad (ASO):  Josef Schnyder, who also serves as one of Thailand’s delegates to the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad (ASO), provided an update on current discussions and developments within the organization in Switzerland.

Among the SSB’s objectives for 2026, he highlighted the planned revision of the association’s by-laws, which will be carried out with the support of Pierre Panchaud, the lawyer within the SSB committee. The revised articles are expected to be presented for approval at the AGM in 2027.

Social Program

After approximately one hour of formal proceedings, members were invited to enjoy the excellent buffet prepared on the other side of the ballroom. Many Swiss specialties were served with the assistance of SSB’s Food & Beverage Manager, Chef Alessandro Haab.

Just like last year, SSB member “Jacky Bakes” together with her husband Tom, offered their delicious homemade products outside of the ballroom.

The evening concluded at around 22:30, with members leaving the venue in a cheerful atmosphere after an enjoyable evening of community, discussion, and Swiss hospitality.
