AGM 2025

Our Annual General Meeting for 2025 took place on the 12th of March at the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok which is managed since many years by Swiss Cluster General Manager Mr. Peter Caprez.

The event started with a one hour registration and apéro from 18.00 to 19.00 where our members and guests had a chance for a first chat and the eligible members received their voting sticks. Also, the vote letter for the elections of delegates for the Council of Swiss Abroad (CSA) was handed out to eligible members. Thereby, our members Jacky and Thomas from Jacky Bakes had a pop-up-store where they offered some of their delicious products for tasting and sale.

At 19.00 the SSB president Christian Brunner opened the official part of the AGM in the nicely decorated ballroom. His Excellency, the Swiss Ambassador Pedro Zwahlen held an exciting opening speech welcoming our guests after which we moved on to the agenda which included 16 topics. Firstly, the current amount of 225 ordinary members and 5 honorary members was introduced whereby the number of ordinary members saw an increase over the year. Also, the quorum which was 1/5 of 230 members or so to speak at least 46 members was outlined and reached as we had 95 members with voting rights present and those voting and election inspectors could be appointed. Then the minutes of the AGM 2024 have been approved by the members and the president held his annual report introducing more details on the memberships, committee, activities held during the year and giving special thanks to persons that made special contributions to the SSB throughout the year. Furthermore, a minute of silence was held for three members that we sadly lost. Next, the annual report and budget have been introduced, discussed and approved by the members and Stefan Kuhn was re-elected to act as the internal auditor while Thanakorn Saengboon was re-elected as external auditor. Our vice president Josef Schnyder then gave an update on the ASO covering topics as e-voting, bank accounts for Swiss abroad and the current state and future proceedings regarding the health insurance for the Swiss abroad. Then the three candidates Josef Schnyder, Christian Bruetsch and Marco Rudin for the two seats at the CSA were introduced by means of a video each of them created by themselves followed by the written election taking place. Finally, an update on Swiss support Swiss, introduction of the objectives for 2025, and room for motions and miscellaneous by our members was given after which the official part of the AGM was closed by our president.

After the official part of the AGM was closed, we moved on to our AGM dinner whereby our guests and members have been presented with a delicious buffet covering a huge variety of Swiss foods ranging from Schaffhauser Bölletünne, Nidwaldner Älpler Maggrone to Cremeschnittä. Thereby, our committee member Alessandro Haab, responsible for Food and Beverage, successfully lead the chef and kitchen staff where he conducted a workshop for three consecutive days with them and after our members finished the dinner they have been awarded with a certificate and loud applause for their great work and gathered know how.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved for their great support and look forward to the year ahead.
